The avenue of the boldest

I stand corrected.

I sent out a tweet the other day about Hazen street, the street which connects Queens with the prison facility on Riker’s island. Hazen St. is AKA the Avenue of the Boldest, which adjective I took to refer to the inmates at Riker’s and so indicate something about NYC planners’ personal philosophies/senses of humor. It turns out that it refers to the corrections officers, as in the police at NYC’s Finest, the firemen NYC’s bravest.

Nevertheless I wonder what superlative designation meter maids get…
